VisualMoney ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your personal and financial information is collected, used, and disclosed by VisualMoney. Our core philosophy is that your financial data is exclusively yours. We built this service to empower you to manage your wealth—not to harvest your data for advertising.
By accessing or using our application, websites, or services (collectively, the "Service"), you signify that you have read, understood, and agree to our collection, storage, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information to provide, maintain, and securely operate the Service. The types of data we collect include:
- Account Information: When you register for an account, we collect your email address, name, and password (which is heavily hashed and salted).
- Financial Data: You may input financial data manually (e.g., transactions, account balances, budgets). If you utilize our bank synchronization features via Plaid, we retrieve read-only transaction and balance data from your connected institutions. We never see, collect, or store your banking login credentials.
- Usage Data: We collect anonymous, aggregated data on how the Service is accessed and used (e.g., page views, feature utilization) to help us improve the platform.
- Payment Information: For Pro-tier subscriptions, billing details are processed securely by our payment processor (Stripe). We do not store your full credit card number on our servers.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the sole purpose of delivering a premium personal finance tool:
- To provide, maintain, and personalize the Service.
- To process transactions and manage your subscription.
- To provide customer support and respond to your inquiries.
- To send you technical notices, security alerts, and administrative messages.
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues or fraudulent activity.
4. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal or financial data to third parties. Period. We will only share data under the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: We employ trusted third-party companies (e.g., Plaid for bank sync, AWS/Vercel for hosting, Stripe for payments) to facilitate our Service. These parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform these critical tasks on our behalf and are strictly obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
- Legal Requirements: VisualMoney may disclose your data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect and defend the rights or property of VisualMoney, or protect against legal liability.
5. Data Security & Isolation
We employ bank-grade encryption (AES-256 at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit) and strictly enforced row-level security protocols. Your ledger data is logically isolated in our database. Our engineering and support teams cannot access your individual transaction records without your explicit, temporary, cryptographic consent during a support escalation.
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
6. Your Data Rights
You own your data. At any time, you have the right to request a full export of your financial data in standard formats (CSV/QIF). Furthermore, you have the right to request the complete deletion of your account and all associated data. Once deleted, this action is irreversible and your data is permanently purged from our active databases and subsequently from our backups.
